RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION

Since the Catholic faith is fundamental to our program, all our courses are taught from a Catholic perspective.  Many of our Religious Instruction courses are taught by those who have done advanced studies in theology, scripture, morality, and apologetics.  These instructors are able to draw out the nuances and depth found in the fundamentals of our Faith. We are also blessed to have priests and religious sisters join us for classes throughout the year.

FOUNDATIONS

OF OUR FAITH

With Our Lady and the Saints as our models, we will teach the fundamentals of our Faith, encouraging students to develop a love for the Faith and a desire for holiness.

TYPOLOGY IN

SCRIPTURE

The Old Testament is fulfilled in the New Testament.

Our courses will dive into the deepest treasures of typology drawing out the riches of the Scriptures.

THEOLOGY, MORALITY

& APOLOGETICS

In the upper-level classes, students will take an introduction to theology, morality and apologetics as a means of delving into the truths of the Faith.

FOUNDATIONS OF OUR FAITH

We aim to give students from Grades 3 to 6 a solid foundation for understanding and living their Faith.

Along with Catechism instruction, students will be encouraged to deepen their understanding of what it means to be a child of God and grow in their relationship with Our Lady and the saints through stories read in class. They will learn about the Sacraments, focusing especially on the Holy Mass, and be exposed to a rich treasury of prayers and practices that help foster a desire for holiness.

In Grades 7-12, students will be led through a more advanced understanding and mature love of their faith.

Along with more complex theology, students will be challenged in their knowledge of Sacred Scripture and the writings of the saints and Church Fathers. They will delve into the rich tradition of Catholic religious writing

which makes up the bedrock of Catholic culture.

TYPOLOGY IN SCRIPTURE

St. Jerome tells us, “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” Students in the Senior program will study the Scriptures in order to understand how God prepared His people for the coming of Christ and of His great love for us. We look at the types of Christ, Our Lady, and the Church in the Old Testament and see how they are fulfilled in the New. The Scriptures come alive as we look at various books and passages of the Bible, unveiling some of the important threads found therein. Scripture overlaps with other courses taught, and it plays an important role in studying Theology, Sacred Music, Latin, History, Literature, and Art. Since the goal of studying Scripture is not simply an intellectual pursuit, students are also given tools to use the Scripture as meditation and prayer in order to grow closer to Christ.

THEOLOGY, MORALITY & APOLOGETICS

Having had instruction in the Catechism, Scripture, and the teachings of the Church, our Theology, Morality and Apologetics courses will allow high school students to delve further into their faith. They will study areas such as Moral Theology, Christology, Ecclesiology, Mariology, and the Church Fathers. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Church encyclicals, and texts from the greatest Christian writers throughout the centuries form the basis for instruction. Not only will students be exposed to these great treasures of the Church, but they will also be challenged to deepen their life of prayer and relationship to Christ, Our Lady, and the Church.
